A little about us... Simon and Julie Thomas - started the Staff of Life bakery in 1997 after running our own successful small café. Simon made all the bread for the café fresh each morning and soon people were coming in just for a loaf to take away.

When the landlord started to interfere in the running of the café we opened a bread stall on Kendal’s market instead. In those days we worked from home and took stands at several shows and farmers' markets as well as Kendal’s WI market.

We then rented a pizza parlour each morning to bake in but we always kept an eye out for a suitable property in town to turn into our own bakery.

The Staff of Life Bakery in Kendal’s Berry Yard opened in September 1999 and we have never looked back!
